About

My story, in three acts.

I believed insurance should be bought, not sold. So I spent twenty years building the systems that make that possible.

Act 1 · The Setup

Born into building businesses.

Entrepreneurship is the family trade. I learned it from my father. "Work while you're young, and then you can relax," he likes to say. But it was everywhere: my grandfather ran his own business, and so did every one of my uncles. Growing up in Highland Park, Illinois, I never seriously considered working for anyone else.

The University of Arizona's Eller College of Management gave me the formal version: entrepreneurship and marketing, sharpened by the McGuire Entrepreneurship Program. Then I settled in Scottsdale, Arizona, and got to work.

In 2003 I started two companies at once: True Blue Life Insurance and Wholesale Warehouse Supply, an e-commerce business. Insurance and e-commerce, in parallel, from day one, both built on the same idea: nobody wakes up wanting to be sold to. So don't sell. Get found.

Act 2 · The Machine

Selling insurance and running e-commerce, while I slept.

At True Blue we pioneered selling life insurance fully online, in all 50 states. No cold calls. No kitchen-table pitches. Content, funnels, and automation did the selling.

Running insurance and e-commerce side by side is exactly why the machine grew the way it did. The same automated inbound system that sold policies powered Wholesale Warehouse Supply's stores, and sold digital marketing services too. I built SEO Services Internet Marketing LLC and sold it in 2012. Later I built BJG Digital and sold that in 2025.

The results: $1M+ in annual premium for 10 consecutive years. $50M+ in total revenue. MDRT membership, the top 1% of financial professionals. In 2022, I sold True Blue. The machine worked without me. That was the point.

Act 3 · The Next Build

Quoteplicity, AI, and what's next.

After the exit I launched Quoteplicity: quoting software that gives agents what I had to build from scratch: 50+ carriers, instant quotes, and a funnel that has generated 200,000+ leads.

I also founded Insurancy Agency Group LLC, an online life insurance agency running the digital-first model I proved at True Blue. The AI building happens inside Quoteplicity, and Wholesale Warehouse Supply is still going after twenty years. Different products, same thesis: build systems that sell while you sleep.

The Salesman Who Doesn't Sell

A Marketing Guide to Making Money While You Sleep

Foreword by Marques Colston, Super Bowl champion wide receiver.

The theory behind inbound marketing: build systems that work on their own to bring people in. Reviews, reputation, transparency, SEO: a passive sales system that brings in customers 24/7, even as you sleep. This book is the exact playbook I used to do it.

"Orders come in very early in the morning and very late at night. They pour in while I'm working on other projects, and even while I'm on vacation with my family."

From the book · Final Thoughts

"An operator's business begins to die the moment he or she stops actively selling, whereas an owner has built a system that isn't reliant on his personal sales efforts day in and day out."
